September
News Letter - By Dr. Light Miller
Treatment
dates follow-
Rapidly the fall approaches as the wind moves
us through September onto December, sweeping
away our Indian summer days. The roots such
as pumpkins and sweet potatoes are ready for
harvest and the sweet berries ripen to sweet
perfection. The preparation for winter begins.
The leaves are beginning to change colors
as nature shifts to grains, legumes, nuts
and protein that will provide lasting energy
for the winter months to come.
The
children and grandchildren eagerly return
to school, ready for the year ahead which
will be full adventures in learning and growing.
Mothers have a little more time for themselves
to gather their strength after the busy summer.
It
is a great time to prepare the body with warm
foods as the Vata season approaches. This
season brings cold windy days so be prepared
to layer yourself in the mornings and be sure
to cover your neck and your head. Take nourishing
drinks with blends high in vitamin C, bioflavonoids,
and B vitamins to build your tissues with
anti-oxidants. Begin to instill the ritual
of a winter Chai, with strong digestive, warming
herbs: Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Black Pepper,
Anise, Tulsi, and Green Mate. Cleansing and
rebuilding the immune system is beneficial
at this time of the year in order to warm
your inner being. In addition getting more
exercise by practicing yoga, tai chi, aerobics,
and dance will help to keep the body warm.
We
have just returned from the Northwest where
we have been teaching for the last month.
Enjoying and feasting on black berries, apples,
and plums as the summer ends. For Bryan and
I, summer was busy and the fall filled with
Pancha Karma Training, Goddess as well as
Tantra workshops, and continuing to spread
the science of Ayurveda. There are seventeen
new graduates in Pancha Karma learning, who
are now equipped to share the healing modalities
of detoxification; a fully committed group
of people ready to make a difference in the
world, transforming peoples lives.
For
us, Pancha Karma is more than a seasonal cleansing.
It is a transformational experience. We see
Pancha Karma as a re-awakening of cellular
memory, a quieting of the ego, a rediscovery
of the self. As we shed our summer skin, we
invite you to join us in stripping the patterns
and blockages of our ancestors; letting go
of the past so that we can be open to our
futures. It is a shutting down of the ego
and releasing of illusory control.
This
is a time of acceleration and new beginnings,
a calling forth of a fresh journey in recreating
yourself with a new consciousness that wants
to be expressed through us.
Pancha
Karma is a jump start for your metabolism,
a responsible way to rejuvenate yourself;
giving back to the great year ahead. Take
a few days to receive. Still yourself with
a cleanse and meditate. Learn to receive support
for the opening and the effluence of your
body; rebuilding the body for the Divine in
you.
Pancha
Karma is for people who want more energy,
vitality, love, and devotion to the self.
As you take time to heal, your work becomes
your passion to assist others. A few days
away will bring renewal, peace, harmony, and
a break through in the ordinary everyday challenges.
New relationships open your heart and support
your spiritual life; experience information
at a deeper level. Clarify your goals. Shift
your domain; open with more compassion to
what is going on in the world. Have the courage
to forgive and turn to love with greater focus.
Participate fully in the infinite possibilities
in your life. Transform, rejuvenate, and be
an example of what is possible. Become a participant
within yourself to create a stronger environment
for the spirits to guide you into the transformation
of humanity. When you do Pancha Karma you
are stronger you have more love in your life.
The
College begins in October. Contact Cynthia

more information. (941) 355-9080 ext #107
- Bryan will continue teaching at Everglades.
As for me, I finally am fully committed to
be bi-coastal, spending more than 2 weeks
a month in Malibu during the course of the
year. In order to serve you better I have
acquired a new apprentice, “Amrapali”
Kristen Swanzy, who will be traveling with
me through the year. I hope that some of you
will have a chance to meet her. We have established
a new location for Pancha Karma on 3 acres
in Sarasota, Florida in a serene private apartment
with salt water pool. Check the website for
dates and availability. For those who want
to come to Mexico we will be available during
the month of December.
For
those who cannot join us at one of our retreats,
make the time for an at home Pancha Karma.
Take Triphala 2-3 times with ghee for 3 days;
increase the ghee by 1(or more) tablespoon
per day, drink cleansing teas like Burdock
root, Red Clover, Yarrow root, Manjistha,
Dashmoola. Take a steamy hot bath, a massage,
and receive Shirodhara. Do a few Bastis every
night, eat immune soup and Kichaddi, drink
fresh vegetable juices, meditate and do yoga.
